Middlesex County Council meeting — October 13, 2026. Council approved the appointment process for the recruitment committee for the Director of Financial Services/Treasurer and adopted the updated joint Community Safety and Well-being Plan for 2026–2031. Staff said the plan is a legislative requirement and does not itself commit the County or local municipalities to new spending or staffing; specific initiatives and any required resources must go through separate budget and approval processes. Council also received a Long-Term Care compliance inspection report for information; it reported no findings of non-compliance related to two critical incidents.

The City of London and London Middlesex Community Housing (LMCH) presented an informational housing and homelessness update. Reported figures included approximately $51.7 million in combined housing costs, $1.04 million in homelessness-prevention investment serving the County, more than $2.2 million spent on LMCH capital repairs in the County over recent years, about $450,000 planned for 2026, and a further $2–3.5 million anticipated over five years. The presentation also described affordable-housing initiatives, including a portfolio of 13 shovel-ready projects submitted to Build Canada Homes, two in the County, and a city strategy targeting 3,000 affordable units by the end of 2026. Council received the update for information; no contract awards, bid approvals, or new spending authorizations were identified.
