🚨 Public Safety Grants & Funding

Uvalde County Commissioners Court meeting, Oct. 13, 2026. The court approved a resolution and application for a $99,000 Office of the Attorney General grant supporting two victim-assistance coordinator positions in the 38th Judicial District Attorney’s Office; the grant covers only part of the positions’ costs. It also approved the FY 2026–27 agreement with the Area Agency on Aging for congregate and home-delivered meals, with no contract value stated, and approved budget items for the county nutrition center and emergency management office. The court approved a general-fund budget amendment for three county clerk/compliance employees after reducing the proposed amount to $25,431. The discussion concerned employee compensation, funding sources, and operating-budget reductions; a salary schedule committee was also established to review county pay issues.

On residential garbage, brush, and tire disposal fees, a proposal to charge a flat $5 per bag did not receive a second. The court retained the previously approved two-tier schedule, described as $2 for smaller bags and $5 for larger bags, effective Nov. 1. The court also approved routine monthly reports and payment of bills. Road-department updates included county road and flood-control maintenance; commissioners discussed possible future use of drones for brush spraying, but no purchase or contract was approved. No vendor selections, competitive bids, or capital-project awards were identified.
