The Ridgefield Public Schools Board of Education meeting on October 13, 2026, included a summer facilities-projects update and review of the first-quarter FY2027 financial report. Facilities staff described completed and ongoing work across district schools, including electrical-service and LED-lighting work at the high school, locker and building-management upgrades, classroom and gym improvements, security bollards, bathroom renovations, and roof and site work coordinated with the town. The presentation referenced approximately $167,000 for unplanned projects and a $79,000 LED-lighting incentive. Performance lighting at Scotts Ridge is out for RFP, with a response expected by year-end; no contract award or bid approval was made at this meeting. The board noted that capital-plan direction would be discussed at a future meeting.

The financial report showed a net special-education budget pressure of about $1.6 million, with approximately $1.22 million in anticipated excess-cost reimbursement not yet recorded; members and administrators discussed monitoring costs and possible budget responses. The board unanimously accepted the September 30, 2026, financial report. It also unanimously approved a consent agenda covering prior meeting minutes, student-insurance policy, and the 2027–28 school calendar. Other discussion addressed governance priorities, strategic planning, and educator recruitment and retention; no additional procurement decisions were identified.
