At its October 12, 2026 meeting, the City of Port Huron City Council approved several procurement and capital-related items. It accepted a sole-source quote from Motorola Solutions for $66,935.25 to purchase nine N70 police radios and accessories; discussion indicated approximately $17,000 would come from the police department budget and $50,000 from city funds. Council also accepted a $32,670 quote from Rosie Brothers, Inc. for a Kubota utility vehicle with an enclosed cab and plow kit. The consent agenda included a four-year agreement with St. Clair County for voter-approved millage funds for ambulance-service operating and capital costs, and authorization to apply to the Michigan Arts and Culture Council for a grant to install permanent roofs on both McMorran Plaza outdoor stages.

Council approved a partnership to establish a St. Clair County Library branch in the vacant north portion of the Elder Harvey Community Center. The city will provide the space and buildout, while the library will provide operations and staffing; millage funding will help support the project. Council also approved a tax-capture financing agreement with the Southside Neighborhood Improvement Authority for Connor Street development, pedestrian-pathway improvements, street lighting, and parking enhancements, with municipal bonds to be repaid using a portion of the NIA’s tax increment. Public comments raised bicycle and pedestrian safety, parking, homelessness services, and concerns about the city’s Flock license-plate-reader cameras and contract; no related procurement or policy action was taken on those comments.
