At the October 13, 2026 regular meeting of the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors, the board approved authority to negotiate and execute a lease for approximately 900 square feet at 429 Main Street in West Point for a library branch, for an initial two-year term. The West Point Friends of the Library will reimburse the county for rent and utilities up to $31,000 during that term; related budget adjustments draw on General Fund contingencies. The board also voted 5–0 to retain Remy Morse Manley LLP to represent the county in litigation. It approved one-year memoranda of understanding with SEIU Local 1021 and the Deputy Sheriff’s Association; the agreements include benefit and leave provisions, including county healthcare contributions of $341 per month for employee-plus-one coverage and $443 for family coverage.

The board took no action on a request to authorize up to $50,000 in reimbursement to the Appaloosa Road Community Services District for additional work related to a road project. Supervisors directed staff to work with the district on a clearer scope and cost estimate, including prevailing-wage requirements and any applicable bidding. Members of the public also asked the board to review the county’s ballot-printing contract after errors in voter pamphlets; no action was taken on that request. A wildfire-preparedness presentation described grant-supported coordination and planned RFPs for website, GIS, and educational-material work, but no contracts were awarded at this meeting.
