Santaquin City Planning Commission meeting on October 13, 2026: The commission considered a citywide amendment to the sign-code provisions for nonconforming signs. The amendment would allow certain signs to be relocated or modified through a special-exception process, with review of potential impacts on neighboring businesses by the Development Review Committee. Staff clarified that the matter was a code amendment—not approval of Maverick’s sign—though it was prompted in part by the planned remodeling of a Cars gas station into a Maverick and the need to relocate its existing sign. Maverick representative Sarah Kovac thanked city staff for their work on the proposal.

After public comment and discussion, the commission unanimously made a positive recommendation that the City Council approve the amendment. If adopted, an applicant could submit a special-exception application for DRC review. No contract awards, purchasing decisions, budget allocations, or other procurement activity were identified. The commission also unanimously approved the September 8, 2026 meeting minutes and received a reminder about planning training opportunities.
