The City of Vallejo Economic Development Commission met on October 14, 2026. The commission recommended banner locations to City Council by a unanimous vote of members present; the proposal prioritizes specified corridors and uses an existing inventory of approximately 176 banners, purchased for about $14,000. No new purchase or contract award was approved. The council liaison reported about $15 million in Measure P funding being invested in road grinding and rehabilitation, with another project package expected in early 2027, and described a proposed $1 million storefront façade improvement program that still requires further Council consideration. Visit Vallejo reported that it has been contracted to produce Waterfront Weekend and expects to direct $20,000–$25,000 to community nonprofits through the event; no new contract action was taken at this meeting.

Economic Development staff reported work on Mare Island agreements and the city’s regional shipbuilding plan, and said the federal government is expected to release an RFP for a fifth shipyard, likely focused on the West Coast; Vallejo will consider applying. The meeting also noted an approximately $8.8 million state Jobs First grant for regional workforce and maritime initiatives, including funding described for Cal Poly/Working Waterfront Coalition and Solano Economic Development Corporation. Commissioners discussed workforce development, attracting maritime, defense and advanced-manufacturing businesses, and a draft set of recommendations to Council; that item was held for revision and possible action at a later meeting. No procurement award was identified.
