The GJPS Board of Education Finance and Facilities Committee meeting on October 13, 2026, reviewed construction progress and project costs. At the high school, 89% of parking was available, on-site asphalt and a new traffic signal were expected by the end of October, and city review was delaying off-site road improvements until likely next summer. The off-site work, including the traffic light and access improvements, was estimated at $1.088 million against a $1.25 million allowance; the AEP portion of the signal work was cited as about $67,000. High school approved change orders stood at 2.7%, with bad soils accounting for $1.7 million of change orders and about $3.5 million in total soil-related costs including work in the original GMP. Middle School West and South construction, and closeout work on other projects, were also reported. Across the bond portfolio, proceeds were about $289 million, expenses about $260 million, and the budget just over $285 million, leaving an estimated $3.9 million in excess revenue over budget at that point.

Staff previewed items for the upcoming regular board meeting: purchase of a 72-passenger wheelchair-lift bus to replace a retired 2008 bus, consideration of disposal of a 2012 bus, and acceptance of a booster donation for the baseball turf field. Staff also planned to recommend transferring $15 million from the permanent-improvement fund to the general fund, and to present medical-insurance rates and the September financial report. The district reported developing a state-required financial recovery plan, with expenditure reductions and revenue strategies under review; a resolution and plan overview were expected in November. No procurement or spending motion was voted on at this committee meeting; the only recorded vote was to adjourn.
