The Lincoln County Board of Education held a special called meeting on October 13, 2026, to launch and explain its superintendent search process. A representative from the Kentucky School Boards Association reported that 10 complete applications had been received and outlined the screening committee’s role, confidentiality obligations, and review timeline. The committee was charged with recommending three to four candidates, listed alphabetically and without ranking, for discussion with the board at a November 9 meeting; reference checks and further candidate review are planned before then.

The board’s stated selection criteria emphasize educational leadership, relationship-building, academic achievement, support for administrators, collaboration and transparency with the board, and fiscal and operational responsibility. Members discussed additional candidate considerations, possible public disclosure of finalists, and background and ethics checks. No contracts, purchasing decisions, budget allocations, or other procurement activity were identified.
