The City of Worcester Advisory Committee on the Status of Women met on October 6, 2026. Members approved the August minutes and unanimously approved a motion recommending that the City Manager’s Office investigate whether the City should participate in the Boston Women’s Workforce Council’s work. Members discussed the Council’s presentation and its potential to help identify gender and race inequities in the workforce, including possible relevance to City recruitment and retention. They noted that participation would involve employer agreement and employee-provided data, and agreed to develop draft language for the recommendation.

Members also discussed whether to continue the Women of Consequence recognition in 2027. They generally favored rethinking the format before proceeding, citing concerns about the current event and scholarship model, and considered alternatives such as a city-linked recognition or proclamation. The committee deferred a formal decision until a future meeting. No contracts, vendor selections, purchases, or procurement-related spending were identified.
