The Racine County Finance and Human Resources Committee’s October 13, 2026 meeting reviewed proposed 2027 departmental budgets. The committee approved the September 30 minutes; no budget awards or spending approvals were made. The County Clerk reported two regularly scheduled elections in 2027 and about $150,000 in election billings not yet reflected in the presented budget. The District Attorney requested continuation of the Axon contract with paid AI features after a free trial, and a temporary half-time diversion coordinator through the end of 2027, using remaining grant funds. The Clerk of Courts identified remaining funding for courtroom AV upgrades, with installation and training details still being finalized. The County Treasurer requested $5,500 for office furniture.

Health and Human Services proposed 15 additional positions for youth-center staffing, older-adult outreach, and veterans’ services. Its approximately $70 million budget includes $291,000 in planned reserve use, a $245,000 increase in levy support—$181,000 for Meals on Wheels—and a 3.28% levy increase. Other presentations cited salary-study cost increases, child-support funding with a 66% federal reimbursement rate, and court-fee changes under Wisconsin Act 179. The committee also set October 22 for formal action on the proposed budget and requested supervisor amendments by October 27; these were procedural next steps, not budget approvals.
