The City of Meridian held a work session and regular City Council meeting on October 13, 2026. In the work session, staff presented an update to the Pathways Master Plan and GIS pathway map for review, with adoption expected to return in November. Meridian has grown from 12 to about 82 pathway miles, most new segments being built through development conditions. Staff noted that some gap-filling projects are included in the Capital Facilities Plan, but timing depends in part on securing permissions and easements. Council members discussed setting clearer completion goals and improving pathway access and amenities; no specific funding or spending decision was made. Council also reviewed a proposed juvenile runaway/beyond-control ordinance, with consideration planned for a future meeting.
At the regular meeting, a resident raised concerns about increased odors from the wastewater facility and requested an updated odor study, an explanation of possible causes, and clarification of odor-control equipment and costs. The resident said additional mitigation could cost millions; the Mayor stated Public Works would report on the issue the following week. No procurement decision was made. Council approved a youth-commission appointment resolution and Ordinance 26-2130 on companion-animal standards, and approved an annexation and rezoning ordinance. The consent agenda was approved without items being removed. No contract awards, solicitations, vendor selections, or bid approvals were identified.
