Regular meeting of the Broward County Public Schools Board, October 13, 2026. Procurement discussions included the superintendent’s response to the Inspector General’s report on the student-laptop procurement: he described procurement reforms already underway, including new leadership, revised procedures and training, standardized solicitation templates, and a 30/60/90-day corrective-action plan due to the OIG by December 29. The superintendent also said vendors found to have engaged in misconduct could face contract termination or debarment. The board approved a related personnel recommendation 6–3. The board approved an ERP implementation-planning item unanimously; the discussion described the overall ERP investment as approximately $75 million, with planning expected to continue through the school year. It also approved an item concerning an Invitation to Negotiate for another district function, with a new solicitation expected to return for board approval in November; Atkins consultants were continuing interim work. A $6.5 million fuel funding item passed unanimously, and the superintendent agreed to examine whether fuel futures contracts could reduce costs. Separately, staff described assessments of school radio coverage and plans for a future ITN for system design and equipment.
For redevelopment of the former North Fork Elementary property, the board directed staff to continue exclusive negotiations with Cyrunk Rising, with a workshop scheduled for October 27, a term sheet due within 45 days, and a 90-day exclusive negotiation period after its approval; the substitute motion passed 5–2. The proposal discussed by speakers included affordable housing, but the board did not approve a final lease or development agreement. The board also unanimously approved a menstrual-hygiene access pilot at seven schools, moved up to the 2026–27 school year; staff cited an estimated dispenser cost of $200–$500 each. A cooperative-purchasing approach using existing contracts was advocated during public comment, but no board action on that request was recorded.
