The North Syracuse Central School District Board of Education held a special meeting on October 13, 2026. Auditors presented the district’s annual audit, reporting an unmodified clean opinion, no material weaknesses, and no findings for extracurricular activities or the reviewed federal programs. The Board approved the audit report. The presentation noted a $42 million General Fund balance, $26 million in reserves—including more than $8 million in capital reserves—and a $703,000 decrease in General Fund balance, compared with more than $7 million budgeted for use. The federal single-audit package remained in draft pending federal guidance.
District staff presented a proposed, phased capital project totaling approximately $140.4 million, with a voter referendum planned for December 17, 2026; no construction contracts or vendor awards were made at this meeting. The proposed work includes CTE/STEM and media-center renovations, stadium improvements at CNS, and building and geothermal-related work at the Roxboro Road campus, among other districtwide projects. Funding plans include about $110 million in state building aid, a $10 million NYSERDA grant, use of approximately $8 million in capital reserves, an estimated $6 million in federal tax credits, and $4.5 million from the debt service fund, leaving an estimated $1.5 million local share. The district said the work would be phased through approximately 2032–33 to maximize state aid and manage taxpayer impact. Project and environmental resolutions were scheduled for Board consideration on October 19, with community outreach and forums planned before the referendum.
