The October 13, 2026 Prince Edward County Board of Supervisors meeting included several procurement and spending decisions. The board unanimously approved a landfill entrance, road, scales, and scale-house project: Webb Developmentās bid of $2,067,221 plus a 10% contingency, and a $129,009.29 scale-house purchase from WillScot, for a total project cost just under $2.2 million, funded from the landfill construction fund. It also approved a $102,915 IBM Power 11 replacement and backup project; a $39,464 Hudson Payne Electronics card-access upgrade at the health department, to be fully reimbursed; and purchases of 15 ballistic vests using $29,400 in carryover funds. Other approvals included $83,984 for school fencing and a backstop, a $1,000 contribution to the 2027 Remote Area Medical event, and a contract with Right Light Signs for trailblazer signage and one gateway sign. The signage motionās amount is transcribed as $26,280.06, while staff earlier described the low bid as $179,830. The board also approved budget appropriations, including $59,897.58 in state funds for schools and a $69,676.50 grant reimbursement to the Industrial Development Authority.
The board approved a parcel-specific covenant waiver to facilitate an industrial-park site for a probation and parole office. The county administrator reported that the animal shelter project is scheduled to go out to bid October 15, with bids due November 17 and a recommendation anticipated in December. Farmvilleās emergency communications center contract had not yet been awarded; one contractor reportedly met the requirements, with further action expected after a November 4 meeting. Public comment focused substantially on opposition to the proposed data center and calls to remove its by-right zoning status, but the board took no related action at this meeting. The board also authorized Dalton Heights Volunteer Fire Department to provide non-transport basic life-support first-response services; this was an operational approval rather than a contract award.
