Board of Education Meeting - October 13, 2026

The Wethersfield Board of Education held a workshop meeting on October 13, 2026. Consultants outlined the next steps for elementary-school redistricting tied to the district’s construction program: updated enrollment projections and building capacities will inform conceptual options, with community discussions anticipated in early 2027 and boundaries intended to take effect for the 2029–30 school year. The discussion covered enrollment balance, transportation efficiency, neighborhood cohesion, racial and socioeconomic balance, and minimizing the number of students affected. The board also received an October 1 enrollment report and discussed class-size pressures and possible staffing needs at several schools; no staffing or budget action was taken.

The building-project update noted that construction documents are expected to be completed before construction begins, anticipated in March. The project team is monitoring the budget and preparing state grant submissions, with related meeting and submission dates discussed for November and December. Following review of exterior material samples, bid prices are expected for two or three options; no vendor selection, contract award, or purchasing vote occurred. The board also discussed draft 2027–28 school and board meeting calendars and continued work on the district vision statement. The only motion was to adjourn.
