The City of Denison Planning and Zoning Commission met on October 13, 2026. The commission approved the September 22 meeting minutes and held public hearings on two rezoning requests. It unanimously recommended approval of a change from SF-7.5 to SF-5 for a Habitat for Humanity home—the organization’s 47th in Grayson County—and recommended approval of a separate Local Retail-to-SF-5 rezoning to allow a small single-family subdivision. Both zoning recommendations will proceed to City Council for final consideration; no contract awards or spending approvals were made.
During the second case, townhome residents raised concerns about trash and recycling service and asked that future development planning address dumpster access. Public Works said it is assessing a possible relocation of the dumpsters to Bond Street while maintaining service and emergency access. Staff also said it expects to update the commission later in the month on proposals received through the RFP process for the comprehensive plan and zoning ordinance; no selection or award was discussed.
