The King George County Planning Commission meeting on October 13, 2026, considered two land-use applications and discussed the county’s Comprehensive Plan process. The Commission approved application Z2026-45 to rezone the entirety of tax map parcel 28-32 from A-1 to A-2 rural agriculture, following discussion of the Berry family’s intention to allow limited family-related development. The motion carried. No procurement, contract award, or purchasing activity was identified.

The Commission held a public hearing on application Z2026-00048, a special-exception request for Hanwha Renewables’ proposed Gibson Solar utility-scale facility across approximately 640 acres within a roughly 1,400-acre project area. Discussion focused on stormwater and runoff, well-water impacts, battery storage, traffic routes, vegetation buffers, decommissioning, and whether proposed trails and other commitments were legally enforceable in the permit conditions. After public comment and applicant responses, the Commission voted to defer action; the matter is to return for further consideration. The Commission also appointed Sean Palavoda and Denise Flatley to represent it on the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee.
