Lincoln County Commission regular meeting and public hearing on the 2027 county budget, September 1, 2026. Commissioners approved a package that reduced several department budgets and kept other economic assistance at 2026 levels, while adding a $60,000 ambulance line item for future discussions; the package passed 4–1. The meeting also addressed budget pressures, including an approximately $11 million shortfall and concerns about using reserves for ongoing expenses. A motion to reduce the Board of Commissioners’ salary budget passed, while a motion to remove an administrative assistant position from the Sheriff’s budget failed. The commission removed $100,000 from floodplain management and reduced the Buildings and Grounds “buildings and structures” appropriation from $2,038,700 to $335,700—a $1.703 million reduction—which passed unanimously. A motion to remove the Western Avenue roundabout project and its associated cost-share revenue also passed after discussion; the proposed $1.1 million Hudson road project remained in the budget. The commission additionally approved a resolution supporting a change to the retirement classification for 911 dispatchers, with an estimated annual county contribution increase of about $21,000.
The Buildings and Grounds discussion noted that an RFP for an architect is being prepared to assess potential courthouse work; no RFP was issued or contract awarded at this meeting. Commissioners also debated outside-agency funding and county association dues, and discussed concerns about budget growth and oversight. No other procurement award or vendor selection was identified.
