At the July 16, 2026 Layton City Council meeting, the council approved a package of consent items that included the interlocal agreement with Davis County for Gentile Street improvements and the construction bid award to Landmark Excavating (Resolutions 26-35 and 26-36). The project covers roadway, sidewalk, storm-drain, water, sewer, and street-light work. Landmark’s bid was $2,679,430, the lowest of nine bids, compared with an engineer’s estimate of $3.5 million. The county will contribute 80% of the $1,990,000 in authorized roadway costs ($1,592,000), with the city contributing $398,000 toward that portion; city water and sewer funds will cover the other utility work. The agreement calls for completion by December 31, 2027.

The council also approved the reappointment of planning commission members and, following a public hearing, adopted Ordinance 26-22 to rezone a 533-square-foot parcel at approximately 2382 East 1200 North so it can be incorporated into the adjacent owner’s property. Separately, fire officials recommended maintaining the broader fireworks restrictions used for the July 4 period, citing fire risk and the city’s ordinance authority; no formal action on that recommendation was recorded. Officials said the city would communicate its decision and consider updating the fireworks map and ordinance before the next annual deadline, a change that could affect fireworks sales locations and vendors.
