The City of Sacramento Disabilities Advisory Commission’s regular meeting on September 4, 2024, featured a Public Works presentation on the Sacramento River Parkway project, a roughly four-mile trail and accessibility improvement project in the Pocket Greenhaven area. The project would add accessible neighborhood ramps and pedestrian crossings and connect existing trails. Segment 1, from Garcia Bend Park to Ottabon Circle, is funded through design, right-of-way, and construction; the city plans to seek grant funding for remaining right-of-way and construction costs. No contract awards, vendor selections, or specific project dollar amounts were reported. Commissioners also discussed possible future advocacy regarding restrictions on using Highway Safety Improvement Program funds for accessibility improvements, but no formal action on that proposal was taken.

The commission reviewed its draft annual report and 2025 work plan, with feedback covering accessibility in city projects, funding, public participation, and potential future work-plan topics. The October 30 meeting was to be canceled, with November 6 identified as the next meeting for continued annual-report discussion. Commissioner Kramer was elected vice chair unanimously. The commission also approved the consent calendar and follow-up log; no procurement awards or purchasing decisions were identified.
