The Queen Anne’s County Commissioners meeting on October 13, 2026, included multiple procurement and capital-spending decisions. Commissioners approved awarding a transportation safety action plan contract to Kimley-Horn for $265,640, with 80% covered by a federal grant; a negotiated contract with BRS Consulting for renovations at Emergency Services Station 400 for approximately $324,000; and a conditional $5,148,161 construction award to Johnston Construction Company for Southernersville wastewater treatment plant nutrient-removal improvements, contingent on securing sufficient grant funding. They also approved $39,856 in wetland mitigation credits, a $318,214 deck-renovation contract with RRH Associates for Fisher Manor, an audit engagement with UHY for fees not to exceed $85,000, and a $55,000 fireworks contract with Starfire Corporation, which was described as saving about $13,000 compared with the current vendor. The commissioners approved a $19,954 development-review fee reimbursement to KRM Development and a memorandum allowing up to $1,899,639 toward Dorchester County’s share of construction costs for the Queen Anne Tech Center at Chesapeake College.

Other spending-related actions included approval of the Cecil Road special-benefit assessment project, approval of a state FY28 budget-request letter seeking capital allocations for the detention center and the Route 301/405 intersection, and budget amendments including a $136,555 transfer for HVAC replacement at Grasonville Elementary School. Commissioners also approved an amendment raising the high-school Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance capacity threshold from 100% to 110% of state-rated capacity. The FY28 budget schedule was approved; the spending affordability committee appointment was deferred.
