The Glendale Commission on the Status of Women met on October 12, 2026. Police Chief Robert William discussed domestic violence response, reporting and arrest trends, victim services, and opportunities for collaboration with the Commission and community organizations. He identified a gap in coordinated, ongoing support for victims and families, and described possible future work on identifying repeat-offense patterns and evaluating technology for case coordination and evidence collection. No contracts or technology purchases were proposed or approved. The Commission approved the September 14 meeting minutes, 4–0, with a spelling correction; discussion of a proposed women’s health event was postponed to the November meeting.
Staff reported that the recent Women’s Equality Day event cost approximately $15,000 and brought in about $21,000, including sponsor support. During public comment, a filmmaker asked the Commission to consider subsidizing permitting costs for a Glendale-made film, citing approximately $6,000 in city permit fees and nearly $1,000 paid to FilmLA. The request was not an agenda item, and no funding decision or action was taken. No procurement activity was identified.
