The City of Clermont Planning and Zoning Commission held a special meeting on October 12, 2026, to review the proposed Clermont 2045 Comprehensive Plan. DPZ presented revisions, including corrections and clarifications to the plan, updated population and employment figures, changes to future land-use density descriptions, and additions to the Greenway network. The discussion focused on town centers, development density, Live Local eligibility, building design and height, neighborhood connectivity, traffic and emergency response, schools, natural-resource protection, and opportunities for higher-paying jobs and tourism. DPZ also discussed a possible town-center overlay with additional development standards and a potential minimum lot depth for Live Local projects; these ideas were not adopted as procurement or spending actions. No contracts, vendor selections, bids, or procurement activity were identified.
The commission approved a motion recommending Ordinance 2027-1, the proposed comprehensive plan, with a recommendation that City Council strengthen the plan’s goals and policies to attract higher-paying employment, expand tourism, prioritize lower-density development where appropriate in light of neighborhood character and infrastructure capacity, coordinate with the Lake County School Board on school capacity and access, and protect and enhance natural resources, including trees and wildlife. The motion passed with one commissioner opposed. The recommendations may guide future land-use and development decisions, but the meeting did not approve specific projects or allocate funds.
