🏗️ Construction & Infrastructure 💼 Professional Services Physical Infrastructure Grants & Funding

Hyattsville City Council meeting, October 13, 2026. Council approved a Driscoll Park Recreation Center roof overlay contract with RoofPro LLC, not to exceed $85,000, and an HVAC replacement contract with a vendor transcribed as “Walmart,” not to exceed $75,000. It also approved the executive-search-services RFP to recruit a new city administrator and accepted and appropriated a $13,791 FY2025 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant into the FY2027 budget for portable and mobile radios. A grant-funded change order was approved, but the transcript garbles its amount and details. Council also approved a CIP roadway-improvement expenditure; discussion covered traffic-calming and street projects, including questions about discrepancies between proposal figures and the council memo. Staff said the Hamilton Street proposal in the packet was outdated and that a newer proposal was needed.

Staff reported that the Oliver Green Alley project had been awarded grants of more than $49,000 and $152,000, with grant acceptance and vendor contract awards to return to council later. Members raised concerns about delays and funding priorities for road, sidewalk, and traffic-calming work, including a proposed sidewalk near a recent pedestrian crash. Public commenters urged cancellation of the city’s Flock ALPR contract and a ban on future ALPR contracts, but no action on that request was taken. Council also discussed delayed audits, financial controls, and a planned city-administrator transition; no amount was provided for the financial-advisor work mentioned by staff.
