The Guthrie Public Schools Board of Education regular meeting on October 12, 2026, approved the district’s 2026–27 operating budget. The budget projects approximately $36.824 million in revenue and $32.396 million in expenditures, with a projected $4.428 million general-fund carryover (about 12%). The presentation cited increased local property-tax revenue and assessed valuation, salary increases for teachers and support staff, and district capital needs. Officials said growth in assessed valuation could increase bonding capacity and potentially allow construction of a new elementary school to begin a year earlier. The board also heard that Eskridge Chevrolet donated $5,000 toward furnishing the new greenhouse, and that the Guthrie wrestling facility is nearing completion, with use expected next month.
The board approved Amendment No. 2 to the agreement with Synergetic LLC; the superintendent described an extended term of roughly six years, with the first year free, but no total contract value was stated. It also ratified a 2026–27 solar energy management agreement with Brightwell Solar for Cotterell Elementary. The district said the investor-funded project is ready for construction, is intended to hedge against rising electricity costs, and will require annual ratification; potential solar agreements for two other sites remain under development. Both actions passed by recorded roll-call vote. The board also approved the operating budget and a student survey; proposed AI and student-safety policies were presented for reading only, with no vote at this meeting.
