The Dearborn Public Schools P-12 Board of Education regular meeting was held October 12, 2026. The board discussed the proposed $1.5 billion, 20-year school bond ahead of the November 3 election. Officials described building concepts and preliminary estimates, emphasizing that no final architectural designs or post-bond project contracts have been made; future work is expected to proceed in phases with board and community oversight, public reporting, and a transparent RFP process. The district said Plant Moran’s bond consulting engagement was a previously approved, one-time fee, and cited earlier approved work involving Fielding and Quinn Evans. No new bond-related design or construction awards were made at this meeting. The board also heard a request for clearer information about planned STEAM labs and related learning spaces.

The board approved the action items, with item 2 considered separately. That separate motion approved a $232,846 award to People Driven Incorporated and a $12,000 award to Data Image for technology-related purchases, following discussion of Chromebook replacement needs, Title I funding, device use, and the need for inventory and utilization data. Other approved items included warrants, blanket purchase orders to vendors including Grainger, YA Healthcare, BlazerWorks, and SchoolForce, a change order to AMN Healthcare, an award to Pervis and Foster, and other purchasing, personnel, and financial items. Separately, speech-language pathologists raised workload and staffing concerns, including 10 vacancies; administrators discussed contracted support and agreed to provide the board with workload and caseload information. Policy 8321 was presented for discussion and is to return for a later approval vote.
