Cleveland City Council’s regular meeting on October 12, 2026, included several procurement and capital-project measures. On first reading, Council referred an ordinance authorizing the purchase of Miles School from the Cleveland Metropolitan School District for a new fire and EMS administration building, renovation work and related contracts, with a portion of the property to be leased back to the district for 30 years. Other first-reading items covered state funding applications for road resurfacing, a HUD grant for the Nora Village project, and resurfacing Shaker Boulevard with the city paying its share. Council also introduced an extension of the data-center permitting moratorium through January 29, 2027; these first-reading items were not approved at this meeting.
Council suspended the rules and passed four first-reading ordinances with 13 affirmative votes, authorizing Ward-funded agreements for a summer safety series, a campus-district master plan, a men’s health summit and a community blood drive/health fair. At second reading, it approved measures covering sewer-tunnel easements, a federal infrastructure grant and related professional-services contracts, eviction legal services, a lease of the 5 Point Building to Famikos Foundation, electrical testing equipment, temporary staffing, a food-and-beverage concession, and purchases or leases of vehicles and equipment. The roll call recorded 13 yeas on the second-reading package, with the transcript noting a 12-1 vote on one measure but not clearly identifying which one. The meeting also included public comments concerning housing stability, public safety and city accountability, as well as recognition ceremonies; no contract dollar amounts were stated.
