October 12, 2026 Morganton Board of Adjustment

The City of Morganton Board of Adjustment met on October 12, 2026, and approved the prior July meeting minutes. The board considered Interplan PLLC’s variance application on behalf of the Chick-fil-A at 10006 Burkemont Avenue, seeking to reduce the accessory-structure setback from six feet to two feet for an open-air canopy over the existing drive-through lanes. The applicant cited the site’s established layout and underground stormwater facilities as limiting other placement options, and said the canopy would shelter employees and support safer, more efficient ordering and traffic flow.
