The Brea Olinda Unified School District Board of Education meeting on October 8, 2026, included several facilities and purchasing matters. The board approved Miller Construction as the best-value contractor for a lease-leaseback school construction project; the project’s final guaranteed maximum price remains undetermined. The district reported that Falcon Academy’s lease-leaseback project with Miller Construction is in preconstruction, and that proposals for the Brea Olinda High School contractor selection were due October 13. Facilities staff also presented planned gym-floor work, discussed removing nonfunctional turf to comply with AB 572, and sought board direction on summer 2027 playground replacements: approximately $225,000 for Mariposa Elementary, which the board supported moving forward, and approximately $260,000 for Country Hills, for which further information was requested. Staff reported a roughly $25,000 estimate to restripe the high school parking lot and planned to coordinate timing and a purchase order.

The board approved a 2027 Ford F-250 maintenance vehicle and an agreement with Athletic Field Specialists for Brea Olinda High School baseball and softball field improvements; the transcript gives no purchase or contract amounts. It also approved executive contract renewals, with a board member clarifying that they contain no new salary increases. Donations included $3,000 for each of the boys’ and girls’ golf teams, a $3,000 check for Brea Junior High, and 36 conference tables with 50 chairs valued at more than $10,000. Recorded action-item votes were generally unanimous, 5–0.
