The Bossier City-Parish Metropolitan Planning Commission’s regular meeting on October 12, 2026, considered land-use and development applications. The commission approved a conditional-use permit for Rural King to display merchandise outdoors at the former Sears location in Pierre Bossier Mall; the applicant said the property is under contract and hopes to open the store in late 2027. Commissioners discussed keeping the display areas orderly and asked for an operational site plan to document how merchandise would be arranged. The commission also approved an amended subdivision plat creating a sign parcel for River Square and approved a multi-tenant monument sign for a development on Safe Harbor Drive in Benton.

The commission advanced a request to rezone approximately 1.96 acres at 29009 Old Minden Road from residential to general business to a public hearing expected next month; the applicant said it could support an expansion of an adjoining strip mall. The meeting also approved prior meeting minutes and discussed presenting a shorter, more accessible version of lengthy agenda materials at the November meeting. No government procurement, contract award, or spending decision was identified.
