At the October 12, 2026 Henderson County Board of Public Education meeting, the board approved a contract with Amergis Educational Staffing to provide EC classroom teacher assistants when permanent positions cannot be filled, at $38 per hour. Administrators said the service is a backup to prevent interruptions to required student support; the district had not exceeded $90,000 in spending under its prior arrangement. The board also discussed how to use $100,000 allocated for band and strings instruments: the direction described was to reserve about $40,000 for cleaning and repairing district-owned instruments and use the remaining funds to acquire instruments for students who cannot afford them. The transcript does not clearly capture a final vote on that allocation. The board approved a first reading of a new employee recording policy and voted to send a student religious-exemption policy back to administration for recommendations on student pickup and safety procedures.
The capital update covered chiller and boiler replacements at Clear Creek, Hendersonville Middle, and North Henderson, with work under Johnson Controls in the procurement phase; HVAC controls work nearing completion; and the bus garage project moving from design to construction documents. The Rugby pedestrian bridge replacement awaits a third-party engineering review before resubmission to DPI. The district also reported purchasing diesel through the state contract at about $37,000 per 7,500-gallon delivery, with two deliveries per month. Policy updates reflected the state-level elimination of historically underutilized business provisions, changing district contracting policies and removing a provision intended to support those businesses.
