The Town of Apex Planning Board meeting on October 12, 2026, addressed three rezoning cases and a proposed UDO amendment; no procurement activity, contract awards, or purchasing decisions were identified. For Jesse Commons (case 26CZ02), the Board recommended approval of the applicant’s proposal to increase permitted building area by about 60,000 square feet and allow buildings up to 48 feet tall. The proposal uses a full-movement intersection at NC 55 rather than the staff-recommended reduced-conflict intersection. The motion also called for the applicant to share communications with staff regarding affected property owners and work with staff on the conditions marked for further discussion. The Board recommended approval of 1409 Goodwin Road (26CZ08), with a staff condition to extend a 10-foot side path to the American Tobacco Trail, or pay a fee in lieu if the required NCDOT encroachment agreement cannot be obtained. The proposal allows up to eight homes on the 8.93-acre site. The Board also recommended approval of Veridia Expansion 5, adding about 23 acres to the existing sustainable development zoning without increasing its allowed density.
Under old business, the Board recommended a UDO amendment on advisory-board appointments. The approved motion would give the mayor one additional 30-calendar-day period to recommend another applicant if Council does not appoint the mayor’s initial recommendation; if Council also declines the second recommendation, it may appoint another qualified applicant. Staff also announced a November 12 public forum for Peak Plan 2055, the Town’s comprehensive plan update, to gather input on draft land-use and transportation recommendations.
