The Seymour Common Council meeting was called to order on October 12, 2026, although the meeting title and metadata list October 10. The council approved a 10-year tax abatement for O&K America Corp. covering nearly $9 million in planned investment at 1625 Bateman Drive: $8.361 million in personal property (primarily manufacturing equipment) and $637,000 in real-property improvements. The project is expected to retain 74 employees and add five jobs. The personal-property abatement resolution passed 5–0–1; the real-property resolution passed 4–1–1. Council discussion included questions about the investment’s local capabilities and employee wages. No vendor or contract awards were made.

The council also considered FY2027 airport finances. It approved a resolution reducing the Seymour Municipal Airport Authority’s Rainy Day Fund balance by $18,533 and gave the airport budget—reported as approximately $1.25 million, including about $1.2 million in general-fund appropriations and $18,000 from the Rainy Day Fund—a first reading. Airport officials said the airport is self-sustaining and receives no tax levy; an $1.8 million eight-unit T-hangar project and a future jet hangar remain in its capital improvement plan, with no award or purchase approved at this meeting. The council also passed the city’s FY2027 appropriation and tax-rate ordinance on second reading; officials cited a 4% general pay increase and an advertised rate of $1.8627, expected to be adjusted by the state to $1.4198. Other actions included annexation and rezoning approvals, first readings of city salary ordinances, and authorization for the city attorney to prepare a letter concerning a vacant council seat. Public comments raised concerns about Flock Safety and other surveillance systems, but no related procurement or policy action was taken.
