Anderson City Council meeting — October 12, 2026. Council unanimously approved on second reading Ordinance 26-18, authorizing an equipment lease-purchase agreement of up to $2.5 million for fire department apparatus, including a new fire engine and rescue truck being manufactured by Pierce Manufacturing. The city’s financing RFP received 11 proposals; TD Bank offered the lowest rate at 4.65% (proposals ranged up to 5.39%). Estimated annual debt service is approximately $307,316 over a 10-year term, with payments beginning in November 2027. Council also unanimously approved a request for $671,648 in South Carolina opioid recovery funds for additional paramedics, treatment and recovery support, and police/fire training. The request was presented as a grant-funding action, not as an award already received. Staff also reported that the city plans to apply for its allocated $15,000 Justice Assistance Grant for street-level criminal apprehension and special-event patrols.

Council unanimously passed an ordinance regulating on-street parking of boats, trailers, campers, and other recreational vehicles. It denied a request to rezone 202 US 29 Bypass from general commercial to light industrial, citing the comprehensive plan and nearby residences. On first reading, it approved annexation and suburban-residential zoning for approximately 31.5 acres at 216 Vandiver Road for a proposed 62-lot subdivision; development review will include a traffic-impact analysis, landscape buffer, sidewalks, and conservation requirements.
