The October 12, 2026 business meeting of the Blue Valley Board of Education included several spending and contract decisions. The board approved the 2026–27 professional employee negotiated agreement by a 7–0 vote and approved a 1% increase to the classified wage schedule. It also approved a 2027 Blue Cross Blue Shield group medical plan renewal for approximately $42.5 million, a 3.66% increase, and a three-year renewal with Logicalis, Inc. for security software, paid annually from capital outlay; both recorded votes passed 7–0. The board also considered renewals for Delta Dental and Standard Insurance plans, including district-paid short-term disability coverage estimated at about $500,000, which passed 7–0. Public comment raised concerns about the district’s finances, special education funding, the proposed bond, and the timing of the teacher agreement’s release.

A possible $198.5 million bond was discussed, but no election or bond authorization was approved at this meeting. Bond counsel outlined a potential March 2, 2027 mail-ballot election and said the board could be asked to approve an election resolution at its November 9 meeting. If an election succeeds, the district could later decide whether and when to issue bonds. Staff also reported progress on projects funded by the 2023, $251 million bond. The board discussed draft state legislative priorities, including school finance and special education funding, student safety and well-being, and staff recruitment and retention; those priorities are expected to return for approval in November.
