The Green Bay Area Public School District Board of Education held a work session on October 12, 2026. The board received a preliminary 2026–27 budget proposal totaling $313.5 million for the general operating fund, with expenditures up 1% from the prior year, below the cited 2.63% CPI increase. The district estimated a $14.7 million levy for private-school vouchers, $6.6 million in transportation costs, and a $33.3 million transfer to special education, reflecting an estimated 38% state reimbursement rate. The board also reviewed a proposed four-year, nonrecurring operational referendum for the November 3 ballot; the first-year request was described as approximately $29 million, with the tax impact expected to begin next year and be tax-neutral relative to the portion of the levy the district controls. The existing $16.5 million operational referendum expires this year. Final budget figures are to return for review on October 26. No contract awards, vendor selections, bids, or purchasing approvals were identified; the budget and referendum were discussed, but no spending-related vote was taken.
The board also reviewed attendance, assessment, suspension, and graduation-credit data; strategic-plan actions; the assessment calendar; charter-school updates; and required school security drills. Public comment included support for the operational referendum and a request for a structured forum about the West High School girls’ volleyball program. The board discussed a proposed revision to science graduation requirements to give students more course flexibility, but no vote on the revision was recorded. The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn.
