The City of Port Hueneme Citizens Advisory Commission met on October 12, 2026. The commission unanimously approved its consent calendar, including minutes and the next year’s quarterly meeting schedule. Staff presented a post-event report on the 2026 Wu Beach Festival, describing its community programming, sponsor and vendor participation, and partnership with the Copa Cabana beach soccer tournament. Reported festival operating expenses were approximately $105,000; revenue and contributions included $35,000 in city sponsorship, $27,650, $4,300 from the Police Explorers, a $16,000 carnival ride donation, and $22,000 in vendor fees. The report stated the festival ended with a $63 surplus. Commissioners discussed ways to increase attendance and support nonprofit fundraising, while staff noted that adding food booths can increase health-permit, restroom, and other operating costs. The commission received the report; no spending action, contract award, or purchasing approval was taken.

Staff also updated commissioners on plans to expand outreach and begin nominations earlier for the Wine Hero award. Commissioners offered feedback on the nomination process and thanked staff. No procurement decisions were identified beyond discussion of the festival’s costs and revenues.
