Beaufort County Council regular meeting, October 12, 2026. Council approved several capital and budget-related measures, including Ordinance 2026/45 authorizing the $3,475,000 purchase of property from Brickyard Commons LLC for the Royal Pines stormwater project, and Ordinance 2026/46 authorizing right-of-way and temporary construction easements for sidewalk, multiuse pathway, Safe Routes to Schools, and Ladies Island corridor projects. Council also approved an electric-line easement with Dominion Energy at Pocotaligo Preserve and FY2027 budget amendments covering stormwater operations, carryover purchase orders, hospitality-tax projects, and facility operations. The All Joy Pathway project remains in transition: the prior contractor has demobilized, and staff is working with SCDOT and the surety to define remaining work and identify a replacement contractor. No new contract award was made in the transcript.

On first reading, Ordinance 2026/50 passed 7–4, setting aside $15 million ($7.5 million from local accommodations-tax funds and $7.5 million from hospitality-tax funds) for a proposed regional tournament complex; the site is not yet selected, and the measure does not approve a contract. Council rejected a proposal to accept Bellinger Bluff Road and Bellinger Neck Road into the county road inventory; staff cited a possible $75,000–$100,000 for drainage assessment and improvements, plus an estimated $1 million to pave the roads. Other matters included adoption of updated state-mandated building codes and discussion of a recommended data-center moratorium. A motion to release the Quick Group report immediately failed 5–6; council planned further discussion after its October 19 meeting.
