The board also received a conceptual update on repurposing Whitaker Elementary as a district learning and training center, with planned window and roof work, lighting and HVAC improvements, restroom upgrades, secure entrances, offices and meeting spaces. The district is developing drawings with MBcon and aims to provide a preliminary set in early November, with early abatement and demolition work anticipated in January after students relocate to Howard. No project award, contract amount or procurement vote was reported.

Other discussion focused on school report-card results, instruction, student services and recognitions. The board also voted to approve the agenda and September 8 meeting minutes, then moved to executive session for personnel, contractual matters, legal advice and policy JI-related student concerns.
