🚨 Public Safety Regulatory Compliance

The Sacramento Community Police Review Commission met on September 30, 2024. Commissioners discussed the status of military equipment use (MEU) recommendations and the City Council’s August direction for the Police Department to work with the commission on outstanding recommendations and questions, including why proposed military-equipment purchases are necessary within the current budget cycle. Staff reported that, among 22 recommendations from 2022–2023, 10 were implemented, six partially implemented, two remain under review, and four were unable to be implemented; the commission had approved eight additional recommendations in August, bringing its total to 30. Commissioners also sought clearer engagement with the Police Department and City Council. This was a receive-and-file discussion, with no new equipment purchase, contract award, or spending approval identified.

The commission approved the August 12, 2024 meeting minutes on the consent calendar. It also confirmed plans for an October 23 community forum on traffic safety enforcement and discussed arranging language-access support, which may involve costs but was not authorized or allocated at this meeting. Commissioners began discussing priorities for the 2025 work plan, including a proposed joint workshop with City Council; no procurement action was taken on these items.
