Climate Action Commission Meeting of October 05, 2026

The City of Iowa City Climate Action Commission met on October 5, 2026. Members approved the prior meeting’s minutes by motion and discussed several energy-related initiatives. The Grow Solar group-buy program ended in September with 366 kilowatts committed and a final total expected to approach 400 kilowatts; staff will follow up with final installation, savings, and participant figures. Staff also reported that a roughly $120,000 reimbursement from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant had returned to the climate-action funds and is earmarked to help cover the added cost of future electric-vehicle purchases. Staff estimated it could support about 10–12 additional EVs. The commission supported receiving regular reports on the city’s EV-first purchasing policy and vehicle acquisitions. No vehicle contract awards or vendor selections were made.
