The Lenoir City Council meeting was held October 6, 2026. The council held public hearings and approved resolutions supporting two Community Development Block Grant disaster-recovery funding requests to the North Carolina Department of Commerce; the applications had already been submitted. One seeks $1,357,984.54 to replace the storm-damaged Arrowood Street Southeast Bridge near local schools, and the other seeks $4,491,520 to install a new backup generator at the George L. Burnnerd Lake Road Water Treatment Plant, which serves more than 25,000 customers. These were grant requests, not contract awards. The bridge resolution passed 5–0; the transcript records a motion to approve the generator resolution but does not clearly capture the vote.

The council also approved renewal of a public parking lot agreement involving the city, First Baptist Church of Lenoir, and Caldwell County for property on the north side of Ash Avenue. The mayor and Councilmember Stevens recused themselves from the discussion and vote; the recusal motion passed 4–0. The consent agenda, including updates to the Western Piedmont Council of Governments’ charter and bylaws, was approved. No vendor selection or other contract award was identified.
