The Greenwich Board of Education held a retreat on October 8, 2026. The meeting opened with capital budget planning: staff recommended moving the capital-budget item scheduled for the October 22 business meeting from action to information because Riverside Building Committee cost estimates and phasing remained under review, and HVAC project figures might change. The Old Greenwich roof project was listed at $4 million. Staff said the revised timing would still allow the package to reach town officials before Thanksgiving, with BET review in February and RTM review in May. The transcript records discussion of the recommendation but no vote on it; the Board later approved a motion to adjourn.

Most of the meeting focused on district academic results and plans to improve student growth, including middle-school performance, use of NWEA MAP data, curriculum and instruction, SAT preparation, science instruction, and AP participation and scores. Presenters also discussed Title I-supported tutoring and intervention programs, but no new contracts, vendor selections, bids, or purchasing approvals were identified.
