The Daviess County Fiscal Court meeting was held October 8, 2026. The court approved a $850,000 state grant agreement for the Daviess County Family YMCA daycare expansion, with the county acting as fiscal agent, and approved a $35,000 contract with Green River Area Development District for grant administration, paid from the grant proceeds. It also approved a $5,000 Kentucky Attorney General’s Office grant for detention-center peer-support training; staff said a budget amendment would be brought to a future meeting. The court approved a $50,000 funding request for Owensboro Area Shelter and Information Services (OASIS) to help address debts associated with relocation and renovations. It awarded a state-master-agreement vehicle purchase to Bachmann Auto Group for one sheriff’s-office SUV at $55,731, with the cost to be offset by insurance proceeds. Claims for all departments were also approved.
The court considered ordinances on renewable-energy and energy-storage facilities, including decommissioning security provisions, and amendments to zoning text; the zoning amendment passed on a 3–1 roll-call vote. The court also approved an extension of a moratorium on certain group-housing facilities. Public comments raised concerns about solar-facility safeguards and proposed data-center regulations, but no data-center procurement or local regulatory action was identified during the meeting. The court issued proclamations recognizing Domestic Violence Awareness Month and White Cane Awareness Day.
