At its October 7, 2026 meeting, the Iosco County Board of Commissioners approved several FY2027 grant agreements, including $28,940 for off-road vehicle trail improvements and $57,520.72 for recreational snowmobile trails. It also approved the annual Michigan Indigent Defense Commission agreement, with a local share of $171,638.21, and law-enforcement grants of up to $6,000 for snowmobile enforcement (with an 85% match) and $16,000 for off-road vehicle enforcement. The Board approved MDOT master agreement 2027-000095 for passenger-transportation-related state and federal funding and associated project authorizations, as well as the 2026 property-tax apportionment report. The statutory finance report was also approved.
In the Committee of the Whole, commissioners approved a five-year extension of the Fiddler Apex vital-records software contract, with the stated amount increasing from $4,500 to $5,175. They opened two snowplowing bids but made no award; staff will review them and return with a recommendation at a future meeting. Commissioners also approved a maintenance-services contract extension with a 3% increase for 2027 and an additional 3% for 2028; the transcript cites a not-to-exceed amount of about $119,000 and an $81 hourly rate for non-permitted work, but does not identify the contractor. The county reported a 13% health-insurance renewal increase and described efforts to seek alternatives. Recycling-site expansion will require renegotiating hauling arrangements, and no award was made on that matter.
