The West Genesee Central School District Board of Education met on October 7, 2026. The board reviewed progress on capital improvements at the high school, middle school, and track facilities, including elevator, HVAC, classroom, and auditorium work. It approved a resolution accepting the recommendation to award theatrical construction work to BMI, funded from remaining Phase Four project funds; three project alternates were also included. The board separately approved an emergency-project resolution for the intermediate school. No contract dollar amounts were stated. The auditor reported unmodified opinions and no material weaknesses or significant deficiencies; the single-audit report remains delayed pending federal guidance.
The district reported allocating year-end funds to reserves under a previously approved resolution: $276,000 to unemployment, $675,000 to TRS, $500,000 to employee-benefit accrued liability, and more than $2.6 million to ERS. Officials attributed the surplus mainly to higher-than-budgeted interest income and lower-than-budgeted spending, and noted anticipated future cost pressures from health insurance and possible reductions in state funding. The board also appointed the district superintendent as lead search consultant for the superintendent search.
