Zoning Board of Appeals (October 7, 2026)

The City of Troy Zoning Board of Appeals met on October 7, 2026. The board approved prior meeting minutes. It took no action on a proposed rooftop wireless communications facility at 207 Broadway; the matter was deferred so the applicant and the Historic Review Commission could further discuss antenna placement and historic-district concerns. The applicant described the proposal as addressing wireless coverage gaps downtown and said it would provide additional technical materials at a future meeting, expected in November.

The board also reviewed Emma Willard School’s proposal for 17 campus signs and related variances, including permission for signs on fences and freestanding signs near sidewalks. Board members raised concerns about the effect of fence-mounted signs on the campus and neighborhood character, as well as inaccuracies or omissions in the environmental assessment form. The discussion ended without a decision; the applicant was asked to consider revising the signage plan and correcting the form before returning.
