Grant County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) meeting, October 6, 2026: Commissioners discussed the Sheriff’s Office CAD system upgrade, noting that a new server had been installed and project coordination and user training were being arranged through a project associated with Motorola. Emergency Management requested support for building a trained roster of county staff who could assist in the Emergency Operations Center; the board was receptive, with training and exercises planned. Commissioners also discussed federal grant support and scheduling an in-person review of jail staffing and budget projections. No staffing or budget allocation decision was made. The county’s budget director is developing a six-year financial forecast approach.

Procurement and spending-related matters included discussion of renewing the county’s access insurance policy with WCRG on a December 1 renewal cycle, and how to pay for rabbit damage to two Public Works vehicles. WCRG’s deductible was stated as $10,000; commissioners did not select a funding source for the repairs. The BOCC approved consent agenda items 1–23 as presented, which included a fairgrounds fencing quote, a copier surplus item, reimbursements, and a recommendation to deny a request to waive event security costs. Commissioners agreed to work on a possible revision to the security policy for future events; no amendment was adopted. HR also presented hiring-freeze exceptions/backfills and a reclassification, and reported seven candidates for a tourism marketing position.
