August Monthly School Board Meeting

Florence County School District 3’s August 21, 2026, monthly school board meeting included a finance update and facilities-project reports. The district reported a balanced 2026–27 general fund budget of $37,297,120 and a total of $39,546,836 after board-approved use of fund balance. The board approved a resolution for a general obligation bond amount not to exceed $1.3 million, intended to cover two upcoming debt-service payments associated with the district’s 2025 special-obligation equipment financing for the Schneider Electric program. Facility updates included roofing work with remaining units to be installed through a change order, LED lighting nearing completion, building automation completed at most schools, and athletic-field lighting planned for later in the month or September. The district also said it was seeking completed drawings, a bid, and contractor selection by October 1 for a project discussed at the meeting; no contractor award was reported.

The board approved an athletic-complex lease agreement involving Dr. John Thomasson Field, which the county has used, after members discussed the proposed 20-year term. A five-year 21st Century grant was also reported for two schools’ after-school programs, with transportation planned when the program begins.
